Third Annual Meeting and Conference
of the COST Action MP0801


"Physics of Competition and Conflicts"

May 18-20, 2011

The COST MP0801 network seeks to promote research interdisciplinary interchanges (physics, sociology, economics, etc)  centered around the concepts of agents, games, and networks. Applications of interest to members include competition between firms, mergers and acquisitions, evolutionary dynamics, cultural change and transportation networks, etc. A full description of the project can be found at the web site of the action.

Themes of this Cost action addressed at the annual meeting are divided in Working Groups (WG):

1. Information and Knowledge

2. Agents including Game Theory


3. Complex Networks


4. Evolution and co-evolution


5. Technology and Risk Management

Program

The 'COST MP0801 Physics of Competition and Cooperation Second Annual Meeting 2011' will begin on Wednesday May 18th at 9am and end at mid-day on Friday May 20th. A formal meeting of the action management committee will take place on Wednesday May 18th at approximately 5pm after the end of the afternoon session.
A conference dinner will take place on the evening of Wednesday May 18th.

The detailed programme will be available in due course.

An e-humanities satellite meeting "Culture as a complex system – models, simulations and pattern recognition" (Working group 1) takes place on Friday afternoon.

Special panel discussion "NWO complexity meets COST action MP0801" on Thursday afternoon at 16.00 h.

Display of the "Places and Spaces: Mapping Science" poster exhibition (http://scimaps.org/), Iterations 1 and 5 and the Wikipedia poster.

Registration fee for COST members is waivered. All other participants are expected to pay 75 euros (TU/e participants pay 35 euro for the conference dinner).

For invited speakers (see above) hotel accommodation will be reserved. Please indicate arrival and departure dates on the registration form.

All other participants (COST and non-COST) have to make their own hotelbooking. Frequently used hotels are:

Conference Location
the workshop location is EURANDOM,  Den Dolech 2, 5612 AZ Eindhoven, Laplace Building, 1st floor, LG 1.105.

EURANDOM is located on the campus of Eindhoven University of Technology, in the 'Laplacegebouw' building' (LG on the map). The university is located at 10 minutes walking distance from Eindhoven railway station (take the exit north side and walk towards the tall building on the right with the sign TU/e).
