Tropical probability and information optimization

Together with Slava Matveev, we’ve been developing a theory of tropical probability, which is a metric-geometric perspective on information theory that can be helpful in the study of information-optimization problems. In this talk I will give a coarse overview of what we have developed so far, explain what we mean by information-optimization problems and indicate an application to such a problem.
