The founders of EURANDOM, former postdocs and speakers from science and industry will look back onto 10 years of EURANDOM and will look forward to new developments. Preceding the conference EURANDOM will organise an Alumni-meeting on Tuesday, August 26, 2008.

EURANDOM is an international Research Institute in the areas of probability, statistics and stochastic operations research, located on TU/ e campus. The scientific staff of EURANDOM consists of about 25 postdocs from Europe and abroad, guided by senior scientists, mainly coming from Dutch universities, including TU/e. The research is oriented towards fundamental problems as well as towards applications. Some of the application areas are: physics, biology, image analysis, communication and risk management. EURANDOM built up a very good reputation in the 10 years of its existence. An international panel judged the research and management at the institute to be excellent. Many postdocs (65-70%) find tenured positions after their period of research at EURANDOM at Dutch or international universities and/or at research positions in industry, including banks.

EURANDOM is known for its workshops- and visitor programme: 10 workshops per year with approximately 400 participants and an average of 40 visitors per year who visit the institute for a few days up to several months.
